Grant Barcode Sender Access to Your Google Sheet
Change your spreadsheet's sharing settings so Barcode Sender can read and write data. It takes less than 30 seconds.
Open your Google Sheet
Go to sheets.google.com and open the spreadsheet you want to connect to Barcode Sender.
Click Share
Tap the green Share button in the top-right corner of your spreadsheet.
Change "General access"
Under General access, change "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link".
Set role to Editor
Make sure the dropdown next to "Anyone with the link" is set to Editor (not Viewer). This lets Barcode Sender write scanned data into the sheet.
Done — go back to the app
Return to Barcode Sender and tap Validate Access again. Your spreadsheet should now connect successfully. ✓
Common questions
I changed the setting but still get an error
Make sure you set the role to Editor, not Viewer or Commenter. If you're on a Google Workspace account, your admin may restrict link-sharing — contact your IT team.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Your data stays in your Google account. Barcode Sender only accesses the specific spreadsheets you link. Scans go straight from your phone to Google Sheets.
Can I make it private again?
Absolutely. Open your Google Sheet → Share → change "Anyone with the link" back to "Restricted". The app will no longer be able to write to that sheet.
My organization restricts link sharing
Some Google Workspace accounts don't allow "Anyone with the link". Ask your admin to enable external sharing, or create a personal Google Sheet and share it instead.
